Jackie is a Melbourne based artist and illustrator with a background in Graphic Design and Visual Arts.
She also spends extended time in Inverloch, a seaside town on the Bass Coast often painting from a home studio.
She is a published author and illustrator, and has illustrated several Childrens books and educational resources.
Prior to the Covid 19 pandemic, Jackie developed and presented art workshops for gifted and talented primary school aged children in Melbourne and interstate.
Jackies interest in exaggerating ordinary subjects into a larger scale comes from her desire to connect others with the extraordinary perspective, by emphasising the unique textural qualities and characteristics she sees in each of her subjects.
She finds inspiration in celebrating overlooked compositions, patterns and forms found within the everyday, this could be the fleeting shift in light or shadow or the subtle curl of a leaf.
Drawn to the Still Life genre, Jackie enjoys observing beautiful leaves trodden underfoot, shells, rocks, and nature, searching for interesting shapes, reflections, intricacies of detail and surprising colour combinations in both her interior and exterior environments.
Images of stillness and solitude, found within both the natural and human world are also themes inuitively explored through her paintings, drawing and personal photography. |
